Every tracked shot includes its location, its type and whether it was assisted. That lets us separate two parts of offense that box scores combine: making shots and creating them. The two measures are plotted against each other below.

How to read it. Top-right = stars (make hard shots AND create for others). Top-left = pure scorers / snipers. Bottom-right = distributors who set up others more than they finish. Both numbers are adjusted for strength of competition (a bucket against a weak defense counts for less), and 2025-26 is the full-coverage season — a past season, where offered, carries only the games ESPN logged shot locations for (its share of the 2025-26 volume is shown next to the season picker), so treat its player lists as a sample.
